How to add a numpad to your tablet while typing in landscape

Hi everyone,

Welcome to this week’s installment of SwiftKey Keyboard Tips & Tricks, geared towards our Android tablet users.

Do you find it easier to type in landscape mode and use a lot of numbers on your tablet? Then today’s Tip & Trick about how to add a numpad to your tablet is for you!

You can easily toggle a few settings to add a numpad in the middle of your keyboard to help out when you’re typing in landscape mode. This lets you quickly type in numbers and alpha characters.

Here’s how to set it up.

*If you already have ‘Thumb’ layout’ turned on, skip to Part Two*

Part One

  1. Go into ‘SwiftKey Settings’
  2. Tap on the Gear icon
  3. Select ‘Layout’
  4. Select ‘Thumb’

Part Two

  1. Open ‘SwiftKey Settings’
  2. Tap on the Gear icon
  3. Select ‘Customize’
  4. Select the ‘Thumb layout numpad’ option
