New Android emoji arrive in latest SwiftKey for Android beta

17th December 2015

Hi everyone,

The new Android emoji arrived today on our SwiftKey for Android beta! You can get your hands on these new emoji – including the taco, unicorn, middle finger and other essentials – by joining the beta and updating.

New Android Emoji - 1

With this beta, SwiftKey supports the new emoji that Android and Google. These emoji include all of the new ones from Unicode 8, but not Unicode 7 (for example, we do not yet have the skin tone emoji as the Android update doesn’t include those yet).

New Android Emoji - 3

Note: if your phone is running on a version of Android pre 6.0.1, you will not be able to see the emoji. But don’t worry – you’ll see them as soon as you update to 6.0.1 or above!

Let us know what you think – and which your favorite new emoji is (we’re partial to the unicorn, ourselves) – on Twitter! Stay tuned to find out when this update hits the market.

Cheers,
The SwiftKey Team
